If you are a follower of art blogs and enjoy asking questions like, “Who is this artist?” or “What led them to this point of success in their career?” “How do they do that?” I am writing this introductory post just for YOU!

Welcome to Avani Art and Soul! Avani Studios is owned and directed at the helm by me, Teri Althouse. Originally from Minnesota, I have called Florida my home for almost 40 years. With a husband, two kids (with spouses), a new baby grandson and lots of extended family nearby, family is a top priority for me.

Balance is another priority for me—without it, the creativity stream would cease to flow.

So it’s the small things in life like morning stretches and meditations, drinking coffee (or wine) on the back porch with family or friends, and hanging out with my faithful companion, Maui. that prepare me for a day filled with creativity at a level I often can’t imagine is possible to keep up with.

That said (and my reality), I do my best to balance a scattered, creative, inquisitive, artistic soul, with almost compulsive planning and list making and the desire for organization. Perfect! 6 miles down the road, I realize my morning coffee is sitting on the bed cover of my ride. Safe driver award?

It looks crazy to others but I do have a plan that works! I have to laugh at myself a lot, especially when I am accused of having multiple conversations in a single sentence! My mind never stops.
